Associated Orthodontists Celebrates National Orthodontic Health Month

Associated Orthodontists is joining the American Association of Orthodontists and over 18,000 orthodontic professionals throughout the nation to celebrate National Orthodontic Health Month. This annual event promotes the benefits of orthodontic care to ones health, and again this year, will be focusing efforts to take a stand against bullying by supporting Stand for the Silent, a nationwide organization that brings awareness to bullying and the real devastation it causes.Throughout the month of October, AO will be educating patients, families and community members about the overall health benefits of orthodontic treatment — which ranges from decreased risk of oral disease and jaw problems, to improved self-esteem. Additionally, the team at AO will encourage all to take a stand against bullying and the devastation it causes.A recent study published by the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics showed that a significant percentage of children experience bullying  as a result of dental and/or facial appearance. Sadly, teeth were the top targeted physical feature to increase a child’s chance of being bullied, followed by strength and weight. This month, follow Associated Orthodontists on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok for more information on orthodontic health, oral health and mental health. Information will also be posted on its website at greatbraces.com.
