Types of Retainers We Offer
We’ll help you choose the best strategic option for your lifestyle and your specific smile needs.
- Clear Retainers: These are high-quality clear retainers customized to fit your teeth perfectly. They are nearly invisible and very comfortable! At first, you’ll wear them for 18 to 24 hours a day. Once your smile is stable, we will let you know when it is safe to switch to wearing them only at night.
- Fixed or Bonded Retainers: These consist of a thin, custom wire bonded to the back of your front teeth. Because they stay in your mouth, you never have to worry about forgetting to wear them or losing them! They are a great "set it and forget it" option for long-term precision.

I got adult braces throught my insurance Delta Dental, it took 2.5+ years and I am very happy with my results. I received an ad for $99 down and $99 a month for Invisalign which brought me to the Associated Orthodontics website.After receiving a consultation I was pleased to learn that I qualified for this Invisalign treatment because my teeth hadn’t shifted too much since my original treatment years ago. Our son got his braces on in November of 2015. It is amazing how much his teeth have transformed over these two years. We got exciting news at our last visit that he has only one more adjustment appointment, then he will get scanned for his retainers, and lastly his braces will be coming off in December 2017! It’s easy! For clear retainers, just brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and cool water every time you brush your teeth. You can also use a gentle retainer cleaner to keep them sparkling. For fixed retainers, we will show you how to use a floss threader to keep the area around the wire clean and healthy.
Do I have to wear my retainer forever?
To keep your smile perfectly straight, most people will need to wear a retainer at night for a lifetime. It sounds like a big commitment, but it quickly becomes a simple part of your bedtime routine.
What if I lose my retainer?
Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! If your retainer goes missing or gets damaged, call us right away. The sooner we can get you a replacement, the less chance your teeth have to shift.
